Desiree Godsell, born and raised in Houston, Texas, graduated from the High School of Performing and Visual arts which laid the foundation for her life in performing arts. From there she received a B.F.A. in Modern Dance performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Once moving to NYC, she began choreographing and dancing for the Atlantic recording artist Santigold touring the world for the last eight years - touring internationally and opening for musicians such as Coldplay, Kanye West, Jay-Z, MIA, and Rihanna to name a few. She's been on David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Conan O'Brian, Jules Holland, and Stephen Colbert. Simultaneously, Desiree began her salsa career straight at the top, partnering with the "mambo king" himself Eddie Torres.
Since then she's danced with Griselle Ponce, Sekou McMiller, Maria Torres, Andy Cruz, Caribbean Soul, starred in Lamambopera off Broadway, on Telefutura's "quiero ser estrella", she was a salsa coach on two separate MTV made episodes,

She tours teaching and performing salsa, bachata, cha cha, latin release, and many other latin dance styles at latin dance festivals and congresses all around the world.
This year she will sit on the judging panel at both the world salsa summit and the world bachata masters in Spain. She co-produces her own multi-media dance concert series, the Pearl. Additionally, Emoves has been a haven for Desiree to continue working in concert dance and this year will be her third round as a choreographer - last year she performed with Malcolm Low and Formal Structure. Her last work at Harlem Stages, "Mambo Mambo" received laudable reviews by the New York Times. Desiree hopes to continue exploring and fusing latin and modern dance.
